What a little BEAST the Rapier turned out to be!! We were blown away to say the least. I showed it to a mate on Saturday night during load shedding, who is at Station 10 NSRI, Simonstown, and he couldn’t believe the power this little torch delivered – dynamite truly does come in small packages!! When we went to bed and had it standing on its tail, I actually though the result was BETTER than our normal bedroom lights... and with that comes a whole new challenge for which I am not THAT thankful to you ☹ Glenn Isola, Kommetjie.

I'm very happy with the performance of the Rapier. If you need a tactical-leaning all rounder and can only get one torch, this is the one! It's small enough to pocket yet powerful enough to perform almost all field tasks. Although it's designed as a thrower (and performs marvellously well in this role) it has a very wide spill beam of almost 180° which increases its application around the house. The user interface is intuitive and it's easy to navigate the brightness levels. The body is super robust and looks fantastic in silver. The shape, coupled with the pinpoint beam, really gives it a 'lightsaber' feel. Adriaan Buys, Stellenbosch

I recently purchased a Rapier from the TorchGuy and, as always, the service and follow up was excellent. I wanted the Rapier as a compact bedside, bump-in-the-night and bush torch. I’ve yet to use it in a bushveld situation but I must say I’m impressed. The range of settings is great, from a dim candlelight all the way up to a brilliant beam. The brightest setting does cause the torch to heat up quite rapidly, but one step down is still very bright and a lot cooler. Overall it’s a great multi-purpose torch and has become my go-to light source. Amazing power out of a small package. It could be shoved into a pocket at a pinch, but might get some strange looks from strangers. Mike Wise, Johannesburg

Used the Rapier last night. The beam is quite exceptional, so much so that I wasn’t able to use it at full power for bird spotting 50 metres away – it was too bright and I had to turn it down or risk sight impairment for the birds! Very happy with the performance! KJ, Mount Edgecombe, Durban

This hand-sized torch packs a lot of punch. It's small enough to fit in one’s pocket, weighs hardly anything, and yet its performance is fantastic. It's charged from a USB, easy to use and beautifully made. There's one operating button to turn it on and off, and adjust the beam intensity. It even has a turbo function which provides an incredible beam, though this setting drains the battery more rapidly and creates a lot of heat. The strobe is unlikely to be used frequently but may be essential in an emergency, and I think the “moon-light” function is a useful feature. Don MacGillivray, Umhlanga Rocks

After being hugely impressed with my headlamp, the HP300 Cyclops, I thought there was no way I would find a torch that was equally impressive. Oh boy, was I wrong! Weapons of mass destruction don't have anything on this little light. But maybe I should start at the beginning. A couple of months ago I was incredibly lucky to win Torchguy's draw for the IF22A Rapier. At first glance I thought it was just another torch, but that was before I had a chance to really test it. Since then I've used it on my AR15 rifle when responding at night. I've used it during our awesome load-shedding (thanks, Eskom!) and I've played with it even I didn't need to. It still boggles my mind to know how anyone can get so much light out of such a tiny package. The different functions are amazing. The candle mode is awesome when I have to go out late at night or early mornings and I don't want to wake everyone. The emergency strobe function is dangerous (trust me, you don't want to be on the receiving end!) My torch is set to the mode where you hold the power button down and it switches between low, medium and high. I keep it on low, which gives enough light for normal use. I even use it in the shower when I need extra light to shave because the bathroom light is more like a candle. But when you're outside and you have the Rapier in your hand, and you're walking towards a noise you just heard, you point the the torch and double press the switch... oh boy, oh boy, TURBO MODE kicks in and it's daylight in front of you!! At this level you can shine a flea off a dogs butt! The temperature control is awesome – the torch does get hot but then it regulates the beam to give itself a chance to cool down and goes back to the level you were at. This is the most impressive little light that I have and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a compact yet extremely powerful torch. Johan Claassen, Roodepoort

Rapier arrived in good order. Fully charged and tested last evening. Received calls from neighbours asking whether the lights at the Rand Show had been put on prematurely! Can't wait to test it out on my next bush trip. Darryl McLeod, Bryanston
