I'm planning a go-bag for emergencies, and the single channel LK charger will find a nice home in it. It's such a great substitute for both a charger and power bank that it just makes sense for it to fulfill a "survival" role. The four-channel charger sees weekly use for my 18650's, as well as a bunch of rechargeable AAs and AAAs that I have. Fast, efficient and monkey simple - perfect for those like me with limited mental capacity :-P Shane Viljoen, Sandton

Two weeks ago we had a storm and landed up without electricity for four days. Coupled with our enthusiastic water-saving, my son and I more or less reverted to cave-man status (Neanderthals with cellphones and tablets!) Luckily, we are loyal Torchguy supporters so, armed with our headlights, we had no problem with lighting – obviously after we dimmed them to stop blinding each other. We had also just bought an LK402 charger/powerbank, so we avoided returning to the dark ages by keeping our little army of three cellphones and two iPads fed for the four days. During the day I charged four batteries in my car, and in the evenings we charged the phones and tablets from these batteries in the powerbank. Other users might be interested to know that to charge a completely flat iPhone 6 to  completely full uses one fully charged 2,600mAh Li-Ion. Our Cyclops headlamps lasted through the entire four days without needing a recharge! Nikki Boshoff, Tableview

The [Lii-100] charger. . . it's so tiny! It's supposed to be for my friend, but he has zero chance of getting it! It provides an extremely small and almost weightless powerbank. Definitely going to try it with a solar charger. With a fully charged 2,600mAh battery, it charged my Note 3 tablet from 19% to 79%. Suitably impressed! KC, Parkhurst

I bought a Liitokala Lii-100 from Mark - what a wonderful charger! I have a few cheaper ones which became obsolete as soon as this one arrived. It's small and compact parked next to my bed where I charge my phone, and with planning and extra batteries I find a single-channel charger is enough. It also works well with my portable solar panel - perfect for an off-grid situation or a hiking trip. I even charge the AA batteries for my shaver with it. Love it! Stay away from cheap chargers - they're not worth it if you want something reliable. Ivor Smith, Gordon's Bay

I've experimented with charging different batteries using different USB sources, including a couple of cellphone chargers and a power-bank, and it's worked perfectly. However my son-in-law has a little daughter who uses his torch as a magic light wand - so, of course, his expensive 18650 batteries were run completely flat. When another brand of charger refused to charge them he threw two of these batteries away (eina!) However he still had one lying around, so I put it in my Lii-100 and - REVELATION - it recovered and took a 100% charge in 7 hours! Throwing two expensive and most likely recoverable batteries away caused my son-in-law to kick his own backside. Ron Behrmann, Waterval Onder

On a recent hike I used my LiitoKala Lii-100 battery charger with a 2600mAh battery to charge my iPhone TWICE – very impressive and nice to know I could rely on this product! Mel de Kock, St Albans College, Pretoria

I got the Liitokala Lii-402+ charger on Friday as promised and used it over the weekend. It's a well-made product from China, where you get more than you pay for – especially if you don’t skimp. It's plug and play – just instal any of the common batteries and it figures out what they are and adjusts accordingly. It charges NI-MH and Li-Ion faster than my old “dumb” charger and you can charge up to four batteries regardless of type at the same time. My batteries stayed cool during the process – no heat stress. In conclusion it's a fit-for-purpose little charger that gets the job done. I didn’t put it on an oscilloscope to see what it’s doing but, at the end, the nominal voltages were in spec and the batteries work! Lee Brand, Benoni
