Liitokala and Vapcell USB charger/powerbanks are top quality, incredibly versatile and amazing value! Customer reviews
There's a lot more to my chargers than meets the eye. Liitokala are a major player in the charger market, with an excellent reputation for quality, and Vapcell have recently emerged as a major contender. Both are unassuming to look at but their electronics are out of the top drawer.
I only import their USB charger/powerbanks because they are lighter, more reliable and less expensive than the 220vAC type. My chargers are powered from USB-A ports – the kind you find in cars, hotel rooms, solar chargers, multi-connectors, cellphone chargers... just about anywhere. They are more reliable than the type that plugs into a mains outlet (from any brand) where the transformer is prone to melting down!
My chargers accept different battery sizes and chemistries, including the 3.7v rechargeable lithium ion (Li-Ion) cells in almost all premium torches and the 1.2v NiMh rechargeable AA and AAA batteries available from supermarkets, so they make wonderful go-anywhere universal chargers.
More importantly, they automatically apply the correct charging algorithm to each type, assuring the longest service life from all your rechargeable batteries (nothing kills those cells faster than a bad charger!)
They have independent charging channels so you can charge different types of battery at the same time, and they have longer channels ("cages") to accept the new-generation 21700 Li-Ions that are appearing in more and more torches.
You can adjust the charging current to shorten the charging time, and the charging algorithm manually to suit unusual battery chemistries, but the best option for most of us is to let the charger decide what's best for your battery.
Oh, and my chargers also serve as powerbanks, meaning you can draw power off one of your Li-Ions to charge your cellphone or other USB device – a real life-saver during loadshedding or when you're out in the sticks!
The only thing that may put you off my chargers is the price – they are so INEXPENSIVE that you may be fooled into thinking that they are not premium quality (which also applies to my torches, BTW).
But you don't have to take my word for it – check out the reviews on the torch forums or the (somewhat outdated) reviews on this website, and if you're not sure what's best for your application please drop me a line (at firstname.lastname@example.org).
