Bought five of the G1000 Grabs as Christmas gifts, so can't comment on the battery life just yet (opted for rechargeable Li-Ions). Nothing about the build or beam would make you think this is an entry-level torch, just the great price! The build is very sturdy and has a quality feel in the hand. I purchased the G1000 as a Christmas present for my Mom so she could have a small torch next to her bed that is easy to use and recharge for those pesky loadshedding times or when away on a trip where she's not familiar with the location of the light switch etc. Mr Torchguy cleverly convinced me that I would like it so much that perchance I should also get one for myself, and perhaps my wife… so I ended up with five of them which were on a very appealing Black Friday special. I even used mine in anger this morning while doing some re-wiring in my DB board – I usually use my cellphone but decided the torch made more sense and it worked very well, with the zoom function being particularly useful while hunting for cables at the back of the DB board. In fact it's going into my toolbox to be used at client sites for the same thing. I already have a headlamp from the Torchguy in my toolbox, which is nice for when you are in the ceiling and don’t have a free hand, but the torch adds a new dimension of usefulness. It's not a torch for spotting a lion at 500m in the bush but it’s very useful for around the house – small enough to pop into a travel bag or handbag but large enough that you will not struggle to find it in the dark next to your bed.
