As you know, I gifted the S11 Light Capsule to my partner Mike – he was so impressed by this powerful little light that it never leaves his side. A few weeks ago he asked if we could drive from Durban to Cape Town with all his stuff. Somewhere between Colesberg and Hanover we saw the dashboard lights fading – it was dark and freezing cold in the Karoo, so we were reluctant to pull over on the N1 especially since trucks and cars with no lights were all around us (only in South Africa...) But when we did stop we discovered the trailer had lost its number plate and tail-lights – they were dragging on the road and the whole electrical system was messed up. Our only option was to (very reluctantly) take his Light Capsule off the keyring and attach it to the trailer on red-light flashing mode so traffic could see us from behind – every five minutes Mike asked if I could still see his light... The next day we knew we needed to get to Cape Town before dark but just after Beaufort West we were warned of an imminent storm. Again reluctantly Mike pulled over and attached his life-saver Light Capsule to the trailer – this time we were sure we'd lose it but it was our only option – we could hardly see the road ahead because of the amount of water falling from the skies. The long and short is that we made it back safely without anyone crashing into us. The Light Capsule survived and saved us. Mike was almost more happy to see the light still working when we arrived in CT than he has ever been to see me 😂. Karla van Zyl, Somerset West
So I was in deepest, darkest Africa, halfway up a tall dark mountain. Well, Rwanda may be deepest Africa but they seem to have no problem keeping the lights on, usually, and I was indeed halfway up a mountain, in gorilla territory at 2,600 metres, but in a 5-star, no expense spared, Top 50 Unique Lodges in the World kind of luxury when, POOF, total blackout! Ok, no need to panic, I had invested in a travel torch for such an emergency… except it was somewhere in a black hole, attached to a black backpack. But wait, didn't Mark say it glowed in the dark? Riiight, there it was, a sliver of kryptonite coloured genius, a beacon of hope. Torch retrieved, tricky rock-hewn stairs negotiated to each of my clients' rooms, their emergency lighting sorted, and within minutes we were all down in the dining area, tucking into a romantic candle-lit dinner while the poor maintenance guy had to negotiate with the generator. This little glow-worm has shone my way past snoring buffalo, inspected crevices for unwelcome eight-legged intruders, ID'd tent-tap-dancing Bush Babies and survived manky weather, a grumpy handler, game trackers in the Botswana Delta and 11 airport security check points while attached to my backpack... and its adventures are only just beginning! I was a bit sceptical about a torch as small as the S11 Light Capsule but WOW, like they say, dynamite comes in small packages! This is a very impressive little keychain torch for those times when you least expect a power outage and you need a torch which is always with you. There are so many features built into it – I especially love the UV light to find scorpions on the farm. Alex Beck, Bokbaai Farm
I’m delighted with the five S11 Light Capsules which I ordered for myself and members of my family. The torch is super bright for its size and the different light intensity settings are very useful. The LED side lights add to the Capsule’s versatility, and the magnetic end is an added bonus. Graham Mitchell, Bryanston
Last year I bought the S11 Light Capsule and one of its many functions is a UV light. We spent a week in the game reserve recently where my daughter spotted a scorpion and I used my Capsule's UV to show it up and take a picture. WOW! Meanwhile, back at work, I use this tiny torch extensively while on site as a Project Manager – it's been unbelievably helpful during loadshedding and normal blackouts. The other day there was heated argument between fitter and landlord as to whether an emergency door was steel-clad, as required. The discussion was going nowhere until I stuck my Capsule to the door with the magnets in the base – argument halted!! Ian Shaw, Durban North
Just a quick word of thanks for sorting out my lovely wife with your S11 Light Capsule in December – it was another awesome Christmas present (last year I got one of your head torches, the best of many I've owned!) I slipped the S11 into my shorts pocket when I went to a braai last Saturday evening and, true’s bob, a light was needed and out I whipped the S11. One of my fellow braaiers couldn’t believe his eyes at how small and bright this tiny torch is – as you say, to see one is to want one (that’s kinda how I felt about his one-inch thick lamb chops!) He also mentioned needing a head-torch, so I've sent him details of both. Steve Watson, Walmer, PE.
My husband is thrilled with his Light Capsule – for a guy who is 6.5ft he loves this teeny tiny torch! It went camping with us and was used at every opportunity. Thank you so much Mark. Rene Watson, Gqberha/PE
I am absolutely loving my new small torch that packs a big punch! It fits perfectly in my pocket so I can carry it around all the time. The side lights are great, with a lot of modes, and my kids are especially impressed that it glows in the dark :). The magnets at the end of the torch could be a bit stronger – they do stick to big pieces of metal but I'm scared that the torch might fall off. Overall, I'm very happy with the S11 Light Capsule, looking forward to taking it with me on holiday and impressing the family. Dawid van Graan, Somerset West
My S11 Light Capsule arrived and you were 100% correct, it's unbelievable how much they pack into such a compact design! All that’s missing is a coffee machine and angle grinder – I am very impressed! On my latest trip into the deep n dark I needed to be prepared as project management throws a lot of curved balls. My S11 Light Capsule partners well with my Leatherman – all in one! I needed them both, often – load-shedding isn’t for sissies! Loving my newest torch! Ian Shaw, Durban North
The Light Capsule I bought recently must be the most versatile flashlight I’ve ever owned!!! Added a short lanyard to give better purchase for my large hands, uses the same charger as my phone and laptop (even in my bakkie), and it's always in my pocket. Staying on a farm it's important to have a flashlight handy at all times, and this small package really delivers. Elmar Venter, Brits
Actually this was a bit embarrassing. Yesterday we visited my daughter – we knew it was her boyfriend's birthday so I took the last S11 Light Capsule from my drawer to give to him. Very fortunately, when I gave him the present he did not immediately open the box. As you will guess, the box was empty – that was the S11 sitting on my keyring! Hence this urgent order for another five. I will be very pleased to have "stock" again of the best present to pass on to worthies. Thank you for the tip-top service. Trevor Hall, Piketberg
Unfortunately in South Africa we quite often find ourselves in the dark, so I got myself a S11 Light Capsule keyring torch. It arrived, and it was MINE... for about five minutes, until my wife saw it and explained – with seducing sickles of snot and tears hanging from her nose – that it was JUST what she needed. And this was before I showed her all the additional functions – believe me, you REALLY need to turn those ancillary LEDs away from you before you do Ze Klick unless you enjoy being blinded. Seriously, this must be the best light to hang onto your keyring, EVER. And you will feel lots better if your loved one has one on their keyring, even if you have to order another for yourself. Diether Etzel, Scarborough
Recently I was lucky enough to receive a S11 Light Capsule as a present – I have nicknamed it "Titch" (for tiny torch) and wow, what a clever little devil it is! Not only is it a very useful and efficient torch, it can perform countless tricks. When the internal light is on it can be hung up as a lantern, serve as a red warning light, impersonate a police car, and display an array of fancy tricks if you hang it on your Christmas tree! It's a must-have for light-minded people. Dick Bilbe, Plettenberg Bay
I have just received my batch of four Light Capsules. If ever you saw a pocket rocket, this is it! The beam would be unbelievably strong even from a bigger torch – absolutely amazing! On top of that there are all the other features which may well be useful in an emergency, since you can keep this torch handy at all times. My wife grabbed one even before the others had been unpacked and I quickly reserved one for myself – the other two will be gifts for a couple of extremely fortunate recipients. From a happy new Capsule owner... Charles Erasmus, Pretoria
I certainly appreciate the effort that you put into your broadcast mails – honestly, your website in general. Your passion speaks to me sir. I imagine you have heard every great review under the sun about the S11 Light Capsule, but I love it! It has replaced the Detective as my everyday carry (not really – the SC31 Pro is in my bag). As an engineer I'd love to know more about the design and manufacturing history of the Light Capsule – it's a magnificent little product. Thank you for being an ambassador for top-level brands here in Mzansi. I love this country but I feel very short-changed on good tech, amongst many other facilities. I'm dying for my next purchase. Adriaan Buys, Stellenbosch
Those little Light Capsules are really phenomenal! I see why they come in packs of five* – you'll want to leave one everywhere, and put them in the hands of everybody you love. It's one of the most phenomenal pieces of kit I have seen. Having the rare earth magnets in the base makes it very versatile. Where there is no steel object in my immediate vicinity, I just attach it to the opened blade of my carry knife and lay the blade flat as an impromptu steel surface. Now if they just put a pocket clip on it… wow! Dr Alan Carlston, Cresta, Jhb
The S11 Light Capsule is all you have said and a whole lot more! My previous pocket rocket was a little blue ******** job but it has been swiftly relegated to my “not so favourite anymore “ gadget box. You are right in saying the Light Capsule will make a fantastic gift, but all my friends who are worthy of such a nice present have already received a number of your torches – including my sons in Australia. So I'm now working on a list of ladies (while my wife is peering over my shoulder) who could be deserving of such an incredible piece of wizardry! I mean it actually takes up less space than a tube of lipstick! In the meanwhile please send me an invoice for another bundle of five*. Burton Saunders, Glenvista Ext 5, Jhb.
The best mini (teeny) torch I have had. My wife grabbed mine when she saw it but luckily they come in batches of five*. It fits on a key ring and the auxiliary LEDs work well. Extremely quick to charge and for such a teeny torch it packs a mighty 400-lumen punch, and it's remarkably easy to use all the functions. The S11 Light Capsule is a compact flashlight that's ideal for quick and simple use around the house or camping. For the price it's hard to go wrong with this one. Makes a good Xmas stocking gift! Craig Kahn, Pretoria
* The Light Capsule was offered only in packs of five when it was launched, but is now available individually.
